Andy Crockett, CEO

Andy joined Vantia in 2009 from the US specialty pharma company Zars Pharma where he was most recently VP Business Development. During his career he has identified, negotiated and executed strategic corporate transactions on a global basis, including merger and acquisitions, national and international product licences, IP and technology licences, and R&D alliances.

Andrew has studied at Harvard Business School and also holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, with a major in Finance.

Stephen Donnelly, CFO

Stephen has over ten years of experience working with healthcare companies. He holds professional accounting and company secretarial qualifications and previous positions in the industry include Chief Accountant/Company Secretary for Anagen PLC, a diagnostic company quoted on the LSE, and CFO/Company Secretary of Alfa Biotech (UK) Limited, a UK subsidiary of an Italian pharmaceutical company. Stephen has also had a senior management role with other venture capital healthcare companies including Novarticulate Holdings Ltd. and Rodaris Pharmaceuticals Ltd. In addition to these roles in the healthcare industry he also held the position of Director of Finance and Administration for the London Office of The Nasdaq Stock Market Inc.

Hilary McElwaine-Johnn, CMO

Hilary is a medical graduate from St Mary's Hospital Medical School, London and has a first class BSc degree from Imperial College London.

She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (MFPM).

Hilary first started working in the Pharmaceutical Industry in 1993 with Servier Research & Development Ltd. Whilst at Servier she gained experience in the clinical development of small molecules as well as in medico-marketing and management. In 2002 she joined PowderJect as Associate Medical Director working across the development and commercial disciplines with vaccines and biologics. She was subsequently Medical Director of Chiron Vaccines UK.

Hilary joined PowderMed Ltd at its inception in May 2004 as Vice President Clinical. In this role she assumed responsibility for the design and delivery of PowderMed's clinical development programs up to the company's full acquisition by Pfizer Inc.

Hilary joined Vantia as CMO in June 2008.

Rachel Morten, Head of Regulatory Affairs

Rachel has more than 24 years experience in global regulatory affairs and product development in the pharmaceutical and animal health industries. Most recently an independent regulatory affairs consultant, Rachel has also served as Senior Director, Group Head Regulatory Affairs for the international CRO Averion International Ltd (previously Hesperion). Previously Rachel founded ChapelPharma a regulatory consultancy that was acquired by Hesperion in 2004.

Rachel joined Vantia in 2009.

Chris Yea, Chief Operating Officer

Chris holds a BSc and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol. Following post-doctoral work in the area of immunology he spent several years at Hoechst Marion Roussel before joining Ferring Pharmaceuticals and progressing to Head of Biology. On joining Vantia Therapeutics, as Development Project Leader, Chris progressed VA106483 to Phase II clinical trials.

Chris is a Founder of Vantia Therapeutics and became Chief Operating Office in August 2011.

Robert Tansley, Director of Business Development

Robert is an experienced pharmaceutical executive having enjoyed development and medical leadership positions in a range of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and regulatory organisations including Sanofi, the MHRA, Arakis and Roche. He has extensive global development, regulatory, and licensing experience including leading the clinical team for the anti-viral valgancyclovir's successful global NDA and sNDA and launch in over 70 countries and the formal approval process for the protease inhibitor nelfinavir in all territories outside North America. During his time in the Licensing Division of the MHRA, Robert gained strong regulatory exposure to add to his industry experience. Commercially, Robert has worked on the launch of a wide range of products both in the UK and globally and has been involved in the in-licensing and out-licensing of projects both in the large pharma and biotech setting. His commercial experience has been supplemented with an MBA from London Business School. Robert qualified in medicine from University College London, subsequently obtaining membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (where he is currently on the Examinations Committee) and has an M.Phil in Biostatistics from the University of Cambridge.

Robert joined Vantia in 2009.
